New Thru 30 Day 2

March 9th, 2010

After I got home from the gym this morning I ate breakfast with my wife and two boys.  I am often taken back in those moments with emotions of gratitude towards God. I’m so thankful for my family. We have been teaching Malachi how to only drink out of a big boy cup…no more sippy cup. Malachi like most boys I’m sure has this undying passion to make me proud, he will literally watch the way I drink and eat my cereal and copy my every move. He usually follows up those moments by saying “daddy are you proud of me”? So this morning as Malachi was drinking his juice out of a “big boy” cup he spilled a bunch of apple juice all over his face and shirt.  He immediately looked up at me with these eye’s of disappointment and failure almost crushed at the thought of letting me down he put his cup on the table and slowly pushed it away almost indicating he was giving up.  Before he could get a word out I said “It’s okay buddy pick up your cup and try again, you can do it”. He picked his cup up and never spilled another drop.

Jesus is telling some of you today to not accept failure, but to pick up your cup, trust in him and fight to overcome that thing that keeps separating you from his very best for your life. You may be carrying guilt and shame but Jesus is carrying love and grace towards you! Don’t let your past failures to keep your from future success.

What a great comparison! As a mother I can totally relate to what your saying and I have never had that outlook that God is the same with us. I want to make God proud of me, and im excited that He is there with me and never giving up on me!

*(p.s. my son joshua was looking at your picture because you have the same name. And he said to me “mommy, when im bigger am I going to have all that stuff on my face too. lol, thought youd enjoy that)
