Mind Dump December 11th, 2009
Okay it’s been along time since I have done a mind dump on this blog so here it goes…
- Just recorded a commercial for the radio and was pretty pumped that they made my voice sound that sexy. I thought I was going to sound like a 12 year old girl but I actually sounded like a 15 year old boy so that’s a step up.
- The commercial is playing 110 times in 7 days..WOW..we also have some other really cool marketing things going on.
- Our official Kaleo blend will be in today! That location is going to be so COOL…this Sunday I’m showing an interview that I had with Mark Batterson. If you don’t know who that is you need to.
- Really excited about what Jesus is doing in N.E. I can’t wait to cross state lines in 2010 when we launch our 3rd location in Boston. I can’t give away the theater but it’s amazing.
- Have date night with my wife tonight and we are meeting up with our potential campus pastor for the Kaleo campus. He’s a great guy, but I never hire anyone without meeting their spouse. I have no doubt she is going to be awesome.
- Was at the office late last night and heard the band practicing…so blown away by so many people that have sold out to the vision of NLC. Because of them NLC is being used by Jesus to change a community.
- Oh ya, the lady who sold us the radio commercial is bringing her family to church on the 20th.
- Not sure what to expect on the 20th…our series is titled “Christmas is for the naughty not the nice” …have no idea how many people will be there and I’m pretty sure we will run out of seats. Should make things interesting.
- Can’t believe this Easter NLC will be 2…what better way to celebrate Easter and being 2 other than a helicopter egg drop.
- It’s funny when you reach “un-churched” people your attendance usually shrinks on holidays because they go spend time with their families who don’t yet go to church. Really weird dynamic.
- DON’T MISS THIS SUNDAY…it’s going to be awesome….the theater is giving us popcorn and we have tons of Kaleo coffee surprises.
- NLC, I am honored to be your pastor.
- My blog site is going to be finished today…Can’t wait to see it! My staff surprised me and teamed up with the same company that made our NLC website and made me a new blog.

Awesome Sunday! October 7th, 2009
This past Sunday was one of the most powerful Sundays in the short history of NLC. I haven’t blogged in a while because I’m going through a huge season of personal growth. Now I don’t say that meaning that I’m not always desiring growth because I am…but there are certain seasons each year where I need to disconnect from social networks and coaching calls from friends around the country and just listen to Jesus. I will say that next week I’m meeting with Mark Batterson on Tuesday and Perry Noble on Thursday, so pray that I will hear clearly from Jesus as these men of God speak into my life.
Here are a few things that I’m excited about!

This past Sunday I challenged NLC to become extremely generous and give the shoes off of their feet to people around the world that don’t have shoes and JESUS moved!
-
One of our life groups counted and boxed the shoes last night and we have 339 pairs of shoes being shipped out this week! That is AMAZING!…around 80% of the people at NLC Sunday literally gave the shoes off their feet.

I was a little nervous about how our first time guest would respond to this and to say the least they were all pumped!
-
Kaleo coffee / our second location is taking off…we have had some of the greatest contractors in the area commit to doing the project for free! I’m talking all of the plumbing, wiring, framing, heating, air conditioning, EVEYTHING! We still need everyone to follow through on their financial commitments because the materials cost a lot. Plus the performance room is going to be OFF THE CHAIN.

When Jesus says go and we obey, he will always blow our mind!

We are expecting to launch Kaleo with 200 new people…what I mean by new is, if you already attend the regal campus you don’t count! Our desire is to reach a whole different crowd at Kaleo.

Spent the day in Boston yesterday…Cannot wait to launch our location there. I’m begging Jesus for that to be our third location. I love what Jesus is doing in the Seacoast but a part of me will always feel like Moses waiting to get to the promise land until we have a location in or outside of Boston.

We used yesterday as a staff building day and I said something yesterday to my staff that really impacted me…I said “we only have one shot at this life”…now I know that sounds obvious but if that thought doesn’t ruin you and pump you up at the same time you need help.

Excited about our new series “So your dead, now what?” can’t wait to see how many college students come from the thousands of invites nlcers handed out.

Can’t wait for our next series…I can’t give away the name yet but you will soon see it on billboards and signs all around southern N.H.

I’m desperate to see Jesus be lifted up at NLC…I’m desperate to see his church grow and be viewed as the life changing bride he intended it to be….I’m desperate not to get in the way of what Jesus wants to do at NLC…I’m desperate to hear Jesus.

1000 people at NLC each Sunday by the end of 2010 and before we turn 3 that is my prayer and lately I’ve been thinking it’s too small! Some would say “why do you mention #’s or why do you pray for a certain #?” BECAUSE EVERY # IS A PERSON THAT WILL EITHER GO TO HELL OR HEAVEN! And all I know is I want to play a small part in the reason why tens of thousands don’t go to hell in New England. So, if you would, join me in prayer!

Yesterday with Perry Noble was AWESOME! It was the most influential day of leadership I have ever experienced.

Perry Noble is coming to New England, which is really cool…I’m going to take him to a Celtics game and allow him to experience the greatest sports city in America!

WE are hoping to make this a two day event for FREE! We are talking about doing a night time experience where church leaders can bring their staff and volunteers and hear from Jesus through Perry. The next day would be more of an intimate setting and would be a day of Perry coaching lead Pastors. If you plan on coming, please email event@nlc.tv ………….tell us how many staff and volunteers you plan on bringing and if you will have a lead pastor attending the coaching network. Get the word out. We need to figure out a # of people attending so we can plan the facility.

I love to preach but nothing pumps me up more than pouring into other leaders! I will do everything I can to turn New England from “a pastor’s grave yard”. I love you guys!

I sat at dinner last night speechless about what Jesus has done at NLC…really, to think just months ago we didn’t even exist and now Jesus is allowing us to play a small part of what he is doing in the North East blows me away. I honestly don’t know what to expect over the next year. I know one thing: it’s going to make Jesus famous!

Looking forward to hanging out with Mark Batterson next Thursday, talking to the smartest pastor in the country is very intimidating when you are the dumbest pastor in the world. I really admire Mark and I’m pumped to learn from him.

The truth is, it doesn’t matter who the heck you know or learn from, ONLY Jesus can grow his church! Matter of fact, I was telling Ben who traveled with me for accountability, sometimes we fall into the trap of not being able to hear Jesus because we are too consumed by the words of men.

I love the series we are doing titled “Imprisoned by Religion”….I believe we will see the most salvations we have ever seen during this series.

We have a fall push coming up that is very intense…I’m not sure there will be many people who have not heard of NLC after the next 4 months. We are preparing for a move of Jesus.

I think it’s funny how I get different leaders that respond negatively to my blog….why the heck would you continue to read my blog if you didn’t like me or what I was saying? …the truth is, you don’t have a problem with me, you have a problem with self confidence and conviction.

I used to want to be liked by everyone until I realized that anyone who has ever done anything great for the name of Jesus has fought accusations of …pride, selfishness, being judgemental, hurtful, and all kinds of other things……I will let Jesus judge my heart and I’ll continue focusing on seeing lives changed forever by the power of our risen Savior.

I have the best wife in the world…if you are a women and do not seek to learn from Jen, you are stupid! Sorry, just being honest! There are few things that bless me more than seeing my wife used by Jesus. If you were to ask her what her ministry is she would say “being my wife”……because only she can do certain things for me……if you were to ask me what her ministry is I would say “simply being a woman of God”. Her greatest ministry may be being my wife but God is going to use her to speak into the lives of wives and pastor’s wives all around the country.

I have the best staff in the country…The best….not different, not worse, the BEST staff in the country. You have a right to your own opinion…you can always be wrong

Mind Dump August 26th, 2009
I have been beyond busy! I didn’t want to miss another day of blogging so I figured the best way to catch my blog up with my mind is to shoot off random thoughts. So here you go!
- This past Sunday was VERY interesting! Our $6,000 projector decided not to work and we’ve only used it about 12 times. So we actually had NO projector on our big movie screen! The tech team learned the importance of back-up plans.
- Attendance was really low for the first time this summer…I can’t believe how high our expectations are at a year and a half old…When I say really low really, what I’m really saying is we didn’t pack out both experiences.
- Here’s the funny thing…I WOULD NOT change one thing about this past Sunday! In our weakness, Jesus was strong…and without a projector we experienced the most intimate worship ever at NLC. 6 more people entered into a relationship with Jesus and THAT IS AWESOME! We have not had one Sunday since before Easter where someone has not given their life to Jesus for the first time.
- I believe that the spiritual and numerical growth NLC is about to experience is nothing like any of us have ever seen! I believe from September leading up to Easter Jesus is going to ROCK our world!
- I had a great time with Perry Noble and the good news is he’s coming to New England!…We are working out the dates now, but I’m taking him to see one of the best professional sporting teams in the world AND he offered to do a one day coaching network for some of the guys I’m connected with!…..PERRY IS ALL ABOUT LEADING LEADERS CLOSER TO JESUS…SO THAT THEY WILL ADVANCE THE FOOTBALL DOWN FIELD FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD!
- I’m honored that Jesus would show me so much favor to be able to connect with such a great leader, but more importantly a man of God.
- Speaking of favor….I’m going to D.C. to shoot a video for Kaleo coffee with Mark Batterson and to also learn from him…..He is probably the nicest and definitely the smartest pastor in the country!
- Jesus is opening some huge doors for myself and NLC but the truth is ONLY JESUS can grow his church! …I’m more dependant on his spirit than ever before! I’m reading through the book of Luke and it says several times “Jesus was led by the Spirit”. If Jesus desired to be led by the spirit, why do we so often choose not to be?
- Kaleo coffee/NLC’s second location met with the city of Dover yesterday and it went perfect! Everything we dreamed of doing has been approved and we can actually seat over 150 people in the experience room! That is a HUGE location for downtown Dover!
- If you want to give towards Kaleo coffee go to www.nlc.tv and give there. Write in the comment section “Kaleo coffee.” Kaleo will be a nonprofit organization and a LARGE percentage of the profits will go to NLC’s safe house ministry which pays for loving families to adopt children.
- We are working on a Christmas experience that, if it all comes together, will draw thousands of un-churched to NLC! …let’s just say we are speaking to someone’s agent and they think it is very likely that this peron will agree to give their testimony!
- While I’m thinking about the future…This Easter will be unforgettable for this community! TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THE BEST IS YET TO COME! IF YOU THINK NLC HAS TAKEN OFF, YOU ARE WRONG. WE’VE JUST BEEN BOARDING THE PLAIN.
- I’m pumped about this Sunday!….I can’t wait to worship Jesus in the Regal movie theater.
- I’m wondering if 1000 souls attending NLC in 2010 is too small of a vision….I’m going to start asking Jesus for 2000 people in 2010 at all of our locations. I’m desperate to live my life seeing Jesus do the impossible.
I’ve been running 2-3 miles a day and my legs are freakin’ killing me!…

Mind Dump

So I’m sitting in my hotel room in Greenville S.C. and it’s been along time since I’ve done a mind dump so here it is…
- Beyond excited that I was chosen by Perry Noble to attend his coaching network! I am pumped to learn from one of the greatest leaders in America starting tomorrow.
- Had a chance to connect with Mark Batterson a couple of weeks ago and, because Jesus has blessed NLC with amazing favor, I’m going back to D.C to shoot a video with Mark concerning our second location: Kaleo.
- 3 years ago, had no experience, no “Bible schooling”, no one who thought I was actually called to ministry, no clue that Jesus was going to call me to Pastor NLC….and at the age of 29 I pastor a 500-600 person church a year and a half old and God has allowed me to connect with some of the greatest men of God in our country. I AM SO BLOWN AWAY BY JESUS! …I DON’T DESERVE HIS FAVOR LIKE THIS!…I’M NOT THE MAN OF GOD I SHOULD BE BUT HE STILL LOVES AND PROMOTES ME!
- I truly believe that Jesus is going to use NLC to reach thousands over the next couple of years…the next 4 months are going to be the greatest months of influence EVER in the short history of NLC.
- I AM PUMPED UP ABOUT OUR SECOND LOCATION/COFFEE HOUSE NAMED KALEO…We have had the greatest outpouring of support I could have ever imagined. Even someone on city council stopped by and said that the city is excited about Kaleo. It’s going to be a smoking hot location for the community to hang out!
- Already thinking about our third location…people need Jesus and NLC is going to stop at nothing to see lives changed by the power of our risen savior.
- I think last Sunday’s message was one of the best ever…I made it clear that NLC is not interested in growing through transfer growth and that transfer growth is actually not church growth at all…the church only grows when new people are added to the Kingdom.
- I also metioned that the only people who leave NLC are Christians that have transferred in…if Christians spent less time looking for the perfect church and instead committed to making the church they were at the perfect bride of Christ, more people would know Jesus today!
- The #1 reason people are not interested in Jesus is RELIGION!
- I’ve been asked to speak at different churches in New England and have denied the offer up till now….but I feel like Jesus is releasing me to speak at some other works. So if you are interested in having me speak or even come to a staff meeting and share the insight of a 29 year old leader leading a church reaching the un-churched email… schedulejosh@nlc.tv …..I would love to be used by Jesus to bless your church or staff.
